What should I do if my card is lost/ stolen?

Ans. You should notify to any of our branches as soon as possible so that the bank would be able to take appropriate actions to ensure your safety.

What does POS service mean?

Ans. Point of sale (also called as POS or checkout) is the place where a retail transaction is completed. It is the point at which a customer makes a payment to the merchant in exchange for goods or services. At the point of sale the retailer would calculate the amount owed by the customer and provide options for the customer to make payment. The merchant will also normally issue a receipt for the transaction which is installed by Nib International Bank.

What should I do if I forget my PIN and my card is sucked in by the ATM?

Ans. You should contact your branch or any other branch of our bank of E-Bank or the customer support office of E-Banking department through telephone to reset the password and apply fir retrieval/issuance of a new card. The same procedure is applicable even if the card is jammed when using it on the other banks’ ATM machine.

Can I use ‘NIB ATM card’ be used in any bank ATMs in the Ethiopia?

Ans. No, NIB card can be used only in any of PSS branded ATMs currently in the ATMs of Awash and United Banks, soon to be joined by Berhan Bank.

How can I transact at an ATM?

Ans. For transacting at an ATM, you can insert (swipe) your card in the ATM and enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Who is illegible to have NIB card?

Ans. Any individual who has an account in any of our branch is illegible to apply for NIB card. However currently, for the sake of security purpose, corporate account, power of attorney accounts and joint and account could not apply for NIB card.

What is special demand deposit account?

Ans: It is a saving account established for those who are interested to save with interest and also effect payments trough cheques.. It is interest bearing accounts operated by cheques.

What is Point of Sale Terminal mean?

Ans. Point of Sale Terminal is a machine that you make a payment to the merchant in exchange for goods or services.

How should an institute or a person get a loan from NIB Bank?

Ans.  By fulfilling the following Documents for all Applicants

  1. Application Letter
  2. Renewed Trade License
  3. Tax Identification Numbers (TIN)
  4. Recent Tax Clearances
  5. Memorandum and Articles of Association (if PLC, S.C. etc)
  6. Audited Financial Statement
  7. Ownership Documents such as Land Holding Certificate, Ownership Booklet, etc
  8. Marriage Certificate of Borrowers and Mortgagors

Ans: It is non-interest bearing account opened and operated by all customers.

How do I apply for a NIB Card?

Ans.  The only thing you need to have is an account (saving or current) at any branch of NIB Banks.

How do I open a saving account?

Ans.  Any person can open a saving account with an initial deposit amount that is not less than Birr 10.00 and having valid and renewed ID card and two recent Passport size photographs.

What is an Automated Teller Machine (ATM)?

Ans. Automated Teller Machine (ATM) is a computerized machine that provides the customers of banks the facility of accessing their accounts for dispensing cash and to carry out other financial transactions without the need of actually visiting a bank’s branch.

What is a Personal Identification Number (PIN)?

Ans. PIN is the numeric password for use at the ATM. The PIN is separately mailed/ handed over to the customer by the bank while issuing the card. This PIN has to be reset to a new PIN by the customer. We encourage customers to change their PIN on the first use. The PIN number should not be written the card holder as in such cases the card can be misused if card is lost/ stolen.
